Founders Award

Will Ragland served in various roles of the SCTA for 13 years, rolling off as Past President in 2023.After teaching theater in public schools for ten years, Will Ragland established Mill Town Players in 2014. In the ten years since the theater began, he has produced over 75 shows and has seen over 200,000 patrons. Will has utilized hundreds of local artists, many former students, in all facets of production from scenic design, lighting, sound, acting, and costuming. Will himself is an incredible visual artist and actor, and frequently designs some of the most fantastic and beautiful sets to be seen on stage in the area . Will's dream and the mission of Mill Town Players is quality affordable entertainment. The fact that Will continues to utilize and mentor and work with former students shows that the quality of the experience is not just on the stage. Will is invested in the community and in the people of the community, and his passion for the arts is unmatched in the area. MTP is a very successful community theater, but Will has gone on to encourage and support numerous artists and designers who have moved on to professional theater careers. Will sees his life's work is to support and promote the arts for the community and to develop artists who can thrive in their careers and who inspire the same passion for art that he does.
