Theatre for Youth Division

Nicole Ackerman (Theatre for Youth Division Chair) has been an educator for 25 years and has spent the past 20 as the Theatre Specialist at Stone Academy of Communication Arts. Her teaching philosophy is creativity-driven, with a focus on dramatic play to help students explore ideas, emotions, and the world around them. A lifelong performer, Nicole finds her greatest joy in teaching and watching students grow in confidence and creativity. She collaborated with the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities to help develop the Spark! Program, expanding creative opportunities for young performers. Nicole believes theatre builds empathy, communication, and problem-solving skills that extend far beyond the stage.
