Founders Award

Founded in 2017, Proud Mary Theatre holds a unique place in the history of South Carolina's theatre community by being the first organization to present LGBTQ+ voices and stories for the Spartanburg and Upstate region. These voices strive to celebrate diversity and acceptance.

Proud Mary encourages any and all members of the theatre community to participate in its productions. One isn't required to take one of the LGBTQ+ labels to come play in any of the productions. This inclusion is yet another way of support by the community for the community. Proud Mary provides a safe place for anyone who has been labelled to be "other" and wishes to make art of which to be proud.
